Top 7 Favorite Wedding Venues in San Diego

If you’re planning a wedding in San Diego and want something that feels elevated without being overdone, then this is for you!

Not every San Diego wedding venue creates space for real moments. Some are beautiful, but can feel staged, meanwhile others are functional, but lack depth or character. The venues below are different.

These are spaces that hold light well, allow for movement and creativity, and feel like an experience from the moment you step in. The kind of places where your wedding doesn’t feel forced, it just unfolds as you get to live in the moment with your guests.

Here are my top 7 wedding venues in San Diego:

1. Twin Oaks Golf Course

As a San Diego wedding photographer who loves all sorts of garden party vibes, Twin Oaks Golf Course is one of my favorites. The courtyard with lush greenery, white roses, open space, and a layout that’s perfect for indoor or outdoor ceremonies and receptions. It’s romantic and intimate and naturally elevates whatever garden style wedding you’re having.

2. La Valencia Hotel

There’s a reason La Valencia Hotel stands out immediately as one of the best wedding venues in San Diego.

The soft pink exterior, ocean views, and layered architecture give it that editorial almost European feel without leaving California. It’s refined and elevated, but still warm.

Why it’s the perfect wedding venue:

• Natural textures & color already built in.
• Ocean right in the background for that coastal vibe.
• Spaces that feel intimate, and not overwhelming

The times that I have gone to visit the property, I get so excited as a colorful editorial wedding photographer. This is the spot to be if you want that fun, editorial, and luxury experience for your guests to enjoy. If you feel like this venue aligns with your vision, and you need a San Diego wedding photographer, please feel free to inquire.

3. Fairbanks Ranch Country Club

If you’re looking for an elevated and timeless feel, then Fairbanks Ranch Country Club is it. It leans more classic, but it still leaves room for personality and intentional design. If you’re a laid back couple, who wants to chill and hang out playing golf beforehand, then this wedding venue is perfect for you.

4. Hotel Del Coronado

Hotel Del Coronado is one of San Diego’s most iconic wedding venues, but still incredibly versatile. It’s a bigger venue, but when approached intentionally, it can feel just as personal and emotional as a smaller venue.

Why is this the perfect wedding venue:

• Hotel Del Coronado is rated as one of San Diego’s Best Beach Wedding Venues
• Coastal energy with historic charm and luxury experience.
• Multiple backdrops for wedding portraits in one location.
• A mix of grandeur and intimacy for your guests.

Thinking about having a grand beach wedding at Hotel Del Coronado, then let’s discuss how we can get the most variety for your wedding and curate something special.

5. Mission San Juan Capistrano

Yes, I know this one is technically not in San Diego, but it’s such a gorgeous spot that it needed to be included in this list. Weddings at Mission San Juan Capistrano are some of my favorite due to the historic architecture and gardens that it provides.

As a wedding photographer in San Diego, I’ve been able to work with couples who have even used the grounds specifically for their wedding portraits, and have their ceremony and reception elsewhere. Normally at Serra Plaza, another honorable mention for a wedding venue.

6. The Darlington House

As a wedding photographer near La Jolla, this venue feels like a hidden escape. The Darlington House is quietly romantic, and full of character.

Why is this the perfect wedding venue:

• Intimate garden setting for your guests. It feels very private and quaint.
• European-inspired architecture
• A much more slower, and intentional atmosphere.

If this venue is more your speed, then it would be the perfect location to create some dynamic and romantic wedding portraits.

7. Harbor View Loft

Set right on Harbor Island, Harbor View Loft is one of those venues that feels open, airy, and completely centered around the experience. With panoramic views of the marina, skyline, and Coronado Bridge, it’s a space that naturally does a lot of the work for you.

Why is this the perfect wedding venue:

• Waterfront views from every angle
• Indoor and Outdoor spaces feel seamless
• A modern space that still feels warm and inviting

The biggest thing here is that everything is designed so you can actually be present on your wedding day, and not managing it. Plus pictures on the marina are epic.

How to Choose the Right San Diego Wedding Venue

The best venue isn’t just about how it looks, but about how it allows your day to unfold.

When choosing think about the following:
• How the space feels when you’re in it
• Whether it allows for movement vs. strict structure
• If it reflects YOU, and not what’s popular

Because at the end of the day, your photos will reflect more than just the venue. They’ll reflect the experience you had in it.

While I haven’t photographed at all of these venues yet, they’re intentionally on my radar for a reason. They align with how I document weddings: honestly, without forcing moments, and with a focus on how the day felt.
